Nuclear Disarmament: A Solution Not Being Offered

Iran’s decision to stop complying with parts of a landmark nuclear deal, and North Korea’s new round of missile tests have the world talking about the possibility of nuclear war again.

In light of the devastation these weapons cause, it defies logic that such a war is ever a possibility. Yet the “Doomsday Clock” of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists stands at two minutes to midnight, indicating that the risk of a nuclear confrontation right now is extremely high. How did we get here and why has the world collectively not found a solution to this threat?

Most governments recognize that certain kinds of weapons are so dangerous that simply possessing them creates an imminent danger to the safety and security of the planet.

Almost every country, including the United States, has signed onto the Biological Weapons Convention, banning the development, production, and stockpiling of such weapons. The same is true with the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Why then does the United States, as well as other nuclear-armed states like Russia and China, not also take a similar posture towards nuclear weapons?

America’s policy seems to be “nuclear weapons don’t kill people, people kill people.”

Certainly those in power do not fail to recognize these weapons’ awesome power and potential for destruction. They’ve only grown more deadly over the decades. When the US dropped the first atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, killing 220,000 people, they delivered approximately 15 and 21 kilotons of energy respectively. Today’s modern weapons are an order of magnitude more powerful.

The largest energy-yielding bomb ever exploded was the Russian “Tsar Bomba” with a 50 megaton detonation in 1961 — 2,000 times more powerful than the first atom bombs, with a fireball eight miles in diameter.

To get a sense of what one of these weapons can do, you can check out this interactive app that uses Google Maps to demonstrate the radius of destruction, estimated fatalities, and radioactive fallout for various types of nuclear weapons.

But perhaps even more dangerous than the increased yields are the sophisticated new methods of delivery. Consider the MIRV — short for “multiple independently-targetable reentry vehicle.” MIRVs are essentially smaller warheads packed inside the main warhead of a ballistic missile.

The idea is that when the missile descends on the target, the MIRV warhead will open and release all the smaller, harder to defend against warheads toward different targets — either spread wide to hit multiple cities and military bases, or concentrated on a single area for maximum damage.

Under the Obama administration, the US removed the last MIRV missile from its arsenal in 2014, while Russia unveiled its new “Satan 2” MIRV missiles in 2016. The latter weapon was also demonstrated in a visual animation during a recent talk by Vladimir Putin. The MIRVs were shown falling on President Donald Trump’s favorite getaway destination — Mar-a-Lago.

Or consider the ballistic missile submarines that crawl silently along the ocean floor — undetected by either friend and foe. The US Navy currently has 14 of these subs deployed.

Or the B-52 nuclear bombers that were for decades in a 24/7 flight pattern headed toward targets in Russia, only to turn away before reaching their fail-safe distance. More than one apocalyptic novel or movie has been written around something going haywire with these deterrence systems.

If a nuclear exchange between rival powers were to occur, not only would millions of lives likely be lost, but the very existence of life on this planet could be in jeopardy because of the effects of nuclear winter.

Add to that nightmare scenario the consideration that humanity has already come to the brink of annihilation more than once — as shown by several accidental incidents.

This is not to say that no progress has been made. In 1963 the US and Russia — the two countries with by far the most nuclear weapons — signed the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, and both countries have abided by that agreement to never again test detonate a nuclear weapon above ground. (Russia has also signed and ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, banning underground detonations as well. The United States has signed, but not ratified the treaty.)

The US and Russia are also signatories to the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The treaty, ratified in 1970, bans the sale or transfer of nuclear weapons and technology, with the eventual goal of disarmament, preserving the right for peaceful use of nuclear power.

Both countries have signed other incremental treaties over the decades that have helped significantly reduce the number of warheads and deliverability systems, including the recent New Start treaty, signed in 2010.

In early 1960s, the United States nuclear arsenal was at its peak, with over 30,000 weapons, while the Soviet Union had over 40,000 in 1986. Today, both countries have approximately 7,000 each.

While this downtrend is certainly praiseworthy, both countries still have more than enough weapons to blow up the entire world. Recent posturings by both nations, and calls for “modernization” of nuclear arsenals are causing great concern among peace activists.

While the NPT signers have agreed to work towards disarmament, a majority of countries have not been satisfied with the current state of affairs and slow progress. On July 7, 2017, 122 countries voted to approve the text of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons — the first treaty completely banning the use, possession, and development of nuclear weapons. As of today, 57 countries have signed on to the treaty.

Noticeably absent signatories are all currently nuclear-armed countries.

The below video further explains the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and is followed by a video of former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley explaining why the US does not agree with the treaty.

Vladimir Putin accuses US of backing terrorism in Middle East

President Vladimir Putin of Russian gestures while speaking during a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club Societies Between War and Peace in the Black…

Russian president Vladimir Putin launched a stinging attack on US policy in the Middle East on Thursday, accusing Washington of backing terrorism and playing a “double game” in the Middle East.

In a speech at the annual gathering of the Valdai Club, a group of Russian and international analysts and politicians, Putin said the US had attempted to use terrorist groups in its own interests.

“It’s always hard to play a double game: to declare a fight against terrorists, but at the same time try to use some of them to move the pieces on the Middle Eastern chessboard in your own favour,” said the Russian leader.

“There’s no need to play with words and split terrorists into moderate and not moderate. I would like to know what the difference is.”

Western capitals have accused Moscow of targeting moderate rebel groups during its bombing campaign in Syria, which Russia says is mainly aimed at targets linked to the Islamic State. However, Putin’s talk of “playing with words” and other statements by government officials suggest Moscow believes all armed opposition to Assad is a legitimate target.

Putin received Assad at the Kremlin on Tuesday evening and underlined on Thursday that he considers the Syrian president and his government to be “fully legitimate”.

He said the west was guilty of shortsightedness, focusing on the figure of Assad while ignoring the much greater threat of Isis.

“The so-called Islamic State has taken control of a huge territory. How was that possible? Think about it: if Damascus or Baghdad are seized by the terrorist groups, they will be almost the official authorities, and will have a launchpad for global expansion. Is anyone thinking about this or not?”

This year, the Valdai Club met at a luxury hotel in the mountain resort of Krasnaya Polyana, one of the venues for last year’s winter Olympics.

Putin arrived at the venue in a bright green Lada, part of an effort to promote the domestic automobile industry. He arrived late, keeping the assembled delegates waiting for nearly two hours before speaking.

Tallinn (AFP) – The US will deploy heavy weapons in central and eastern Europe for the first time, Washington said Tuesday, in the midst of the worst stand-off between Russia and the West since the Cold War, triggered by the crisis in Ukraine.

“We will temporarily stage one armoured brigade combat team’s vehicles and associated equipment in countries in central and eastern Europe,” US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter said at a joint press conference with three Baltic defence ministers on the eve of NATO ministerial talks.

“This pre-positioned European activity set includes tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery,” he said, adding that Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania and Poland had “agreed to host company- to battalion-sized elements of this equipment” which would be “moved around the region for training and exercises.”

“While we do not seek a cold, let alone a hot war with Russia, we will defend our allies,” Carter added.

The Pentagon said the deployment of 250 heavy weaponry would include 90 Abrams tanks, 140 Bradley armoured vehicles, and 20 self-propelled howitzers.

“The American move sends a signal to Russia, US allies and other global powers that the US is a leading global military power able to counter Russian threats in the region — that it’s not a power in decline,” Marcin Terlikowski, a security analyst with the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM), told AFP.

The US announcement comes as NATO vowed Monday to step up its military presence in eastern Europe against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine.

Ukrainian rebels on Tuesday accused government forces of killing three civilians in attacks launched hours before the start of crunch talks in Paris on ways to halt the 15-month separatist war.

Kiev’s Western-backed military command meanwhile reported the death of one soldier and accused the pro-Russian rebels of heavy mortar and artillery fire.

The ongoing bloodshed underscores a repeated failure by diplomats to find a way out of a crisis that has killed 6,500 people in a little over a year.

Entering the Paris talks, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the recent deaths “shows that the ceasefire isn’t just fragile but that the daily violations are becoming more frequent.”

“Without a ceasefire, all the other factors won’t come together,” warned the minister ahead of talks with his French, Russian and Ukrainian counterparts.

This has all the earmarks of how UNITED STATES painted Japan into corner over petroleum resulting in WWII

Editor: Because of the sanctions imposed upon Russia by the United States and the European Union Russia has turn to other trading partners to offset these actions. The deal described below is an earmark, the same type of painting Russia into the corner as the United States did to Japan which led to the “surprise” attack on Pearl Harbor, although the specifics are different, the attitudes are the same, whether or not the consequences will be, we can only hope not!

Russia Delivers Blow To Petrodollar In Historic $20 Billion Iran Oil Deal
Russia signed a historic $20 billion oil deal with Iran to bypass both western sanctions and the dollar based western monetary system yesterday.

Currency wars are set to escalate as the petro dollar’s decline continues.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and his Iranian counterpart Bijan Zanganeh signed a five-year memorandum of understanding in Moscow, which included cooperation in the oil sector.

“Based on Iran’s proposal, we will participate in arranging shipments of crude oil, including to the Russian market,” Novak was quoted as saying.

The five year accord will see Russia help Iran “organise oil sales” as well as “cooperate in the oil-gas industry, construction of power plants, grids, supply of machinery, consumer goods and agriculture products”, according to a statement by the Energy Ministry in Moscow.

The deal could see Russia buying 500,000 barrels of Iranian oil a day, the Moscow-based Kommersant newspaper has previously reported. Under the proposed deal Russia would buy up to 500,000 barrels a day or a third of Iranian oil exports in exchange for Russian equipment and goods.

The Russian government withdrew the statement regarding the deal last night, but said it would issue a new statement today.

In January, Russia said that they were negotiating an oil-for-goods swap worth $1.5 billion a month that would enable Iran to lift oil exports substantially to Russia, undermining Western sanctions.

Yesterday, the Russian President told regional leaders that “the political tools of economic pressure are unacceptable and run counter to all norms and rules.” He  said in response to western sanctions he had given orders to boost domestic manufacturers at the expense of non-Russian ones.

The White House has previously said that reports of talks between Russia and Iran were a matter of “serious concern”.

English: Vladimir Putin, Metropolitan Kirill, ...

Happy Easter, it’s important to note that a great many people celebrate Easter around the world and some that the National Media have been hitting hard, but nonetheless, still observe the Christian holiday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev were among thousands of people who packed the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow Saturday evening for a service marking the Easter holiday. The traditional service was led by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
As part of the service worshipers lit candles using fire from Jerusalem’s Holy Sepulcher flame, brought to Moscow after being lit earlier in the day by the patriarch in Jerusalem. The holy fire has been brought to Russia from Jerusalem every year since 2003.

More Evidence That Consolidated Global Power Is Wielded by Tiny Elite click here

    By Staff Report – April 17, 2014

US financial showdown with Russia is more dangerous than it looks, for both sides … The United States has constructed a financial neutron bomb. For the past 12 years an elite cell at the US Treasury has been sharpening the tools of economic warfare, designing ways to bring almost any country to its knees without firing a shot. The strategy relies on hegemonic control over the global banking system, buttressed by a network of allies and the reluctant acquiescence of neutral states. Let us call this the Manhattan Project of the early 21st century. – UK Telegraph

Dominant Social Theme: How fortunate that the US can place sanctions anywhere in the world. What foresight.

Free-Market Analysis: Gradually and continually (we humbly observe) our theses are confirmed by others. The Anglo-American axis indeed controls the world – China, too.

We find this startling admission in a recent article posted at the UK Telegraph.

And, yes, we’ve reported on it in our own way, proposing that the top elites in any society have more in common with each other than the vast majority of citizens they keep (a distant) company with. Read More Here……

    Lies that led to WAR

    by Jeff Dolittle

The brave souls that have a lifetime to look forward to, a lifetime of pain, suffering, stares, not fitting in, never to be accepted except out of pity, their torture goes on seemingly forever, after a time, they realize the lucky ones, are the ones who didn't come back.

Over a hundred years of falsehoods to take the Nation to war for so many times. Some may say that in certain instances it is necessary but they are not the ones that send and lose their love ones in these bloodbaths of greed. The video below documents all the times that our elected officials have lied to us to bring the Nation into war. In most of the cases, the bottom line was the reason. The corporate greed of the Monolith that now controls the Nation and is striving for the complete one world order that some of you may have heard about is a work in progress. Every time one of the elected stooges for this order professes their reasons for marching our kids off to war is another step taken toward achieving this goal. Watch the video below, it’s documents all those times, going back to the Spanish-American War and Remember the Maine!

FEAR FACTOR, essence of false flag operations CLICK HERE!

Alert FALSE FLAG operations create Fear Factor EYEONCITRUS.COM

Already happened in Boston, so many loose ends in that story, just got to look for them, you’ll see them all, I personally believe those two got enlisted by the FBI or CIA, like they typically do when they want to set up a sting and then reveal to the public what a great job they’ve done by arresting them before they could do their dastardly deed, which generally they provide the ill witted individuals with weapons or bombs, that are phony, blanks, will not work. In this case the real stuff was provided and possible more and the plan was allowed to happen, not caught in the nick of time. Why would they do this, you ask? Well, to keep the atmosphere of fear going so they can continue to dismantle our freedom, because we’re all so fearful. We should be afraid, but it’s this tyrannical government we should be afraid of and the people who are the puppet masters. When crimes occur, they should be investigated like any crime that has ever happened in the past and the culprits receive the fitting punishment, this is how it has always been, but in the past, we did not abandon our rights, Constitution to go after the terrorists. Examples are as follows:

United States 1865–1877: Over 3000 Freedmen and their Republican Party allies were killed by the Ku Klux Klan and well-organized campaigns of violence by other local whites in a campaign of terrorist violence that weakened the reconstructionist governments in the American South and helped re-establish legitimized segregation.

United States 1910, 1 October: Los Angeles Times bombing by a member of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers Union killed 21 people and injured an additional 100.

United States 1920, 16 September: Wall Street bombing killed 38 people and wounded 300 others.

United States 1940, 4 July: Time bomb is left at the British Pavillion at the 1939 New York World’s Fair, 2 policeman are killed

United States 1940–1956: George Metesky, the "Mad Bomber", placed over 30 bombs in New York City in public places such as Grand Central Station and The Paramount Theater, injuring ten during this period in protest against the local electric utility. He also sent many threatening letters.

Why was the mercenary group of the deceased Navy Seal, Chris Kyle in Boston for the Marathon, dressed in their distinctive uniforms with their mottos etched in the head gear, violence does solve problems? As you can see terrorist activities are nothing new, the only new thing today, is how we handle it.

Those in control want to continue to dismantle our freedoms with these operations, that way they have better and easier control over the people, at least the people in Russia knew they were being spoon fed propaganda, how long will it be before we wake up?
