The SUV took off dragging the victim along heading around the corner past Colonel Frogs then turned onto South Michigan. The witnesses followed and after turning onto S Michigan they saw John lying in the street with extensive head injuries. They noted that the SUV turned west onto 490 heading toward route 19.
The EMS crew stated that the victim coded (died) there, was revived, taken to seven rivers hospital, where he was stabilized and then flown to Tampa General, where he later died.
Arrested for murder and other charges were Jennifer Nicole Davis and Christopher Allen Martinez.
The victim had met Davis and Martinez to apparently sell them oxycodone, but their intention was to steal it instead and that is how the above scenario unfolded. Davis was the driver and Martinez was riding along. She knocked the pills out of the victim’s hand when he showed them to her through the driver window, at which time Davis sped off with the victim hanging on through the window.
