The plume of radiation that was released and was still being release into the Pacific Ocean from 2011, with that disaster still not resolved the question is how much more damage and radiation will spill out into the Pacific?

(CNN) — A 6.8-magnitude earthquake early Saturday struck offshore not far from Fukushima, Japan — the epicenter of a nuclear crisis following a massive 2011 earthquake and tsunami — the Japan Meteorological Agency reported.

The same agency issued a tsunami warning for the Pacific coast in the region of Tohoku.

Tsunami advisories were issued for coastal regions in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures following the offshore earthquake.

"Marine threat is in place," the meteorological agency warned for those in imperiled areas. "Get out of the water and leave the coast immediately."

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered off Honshu island some 129 kilometers (79 miles) east-southeast of Namie and 284 kilometers east-northeast of Tokyo. It was 13 kilometers, or 8 miles, deep.

There were no immediate reports of damage. MORE HERE…

For the first 4 years after the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, research was forbidden. During that time more than 100,000 of the weakest died. A similar pattern emerged after Chernobyl. However, the USSR authorities officially forbade doctors from connecting diseases with radiation and, like the Japanese experience, all data were classified for the first 3 years. No fewer than three billion persons inhabit areas contaminated by Chernobyl’s radionuclides. More than 50% of the surface of 13 European countries and 30% of eight other countries have been contaminated by Chernobyl fallout. Given biological and statistical laws the adverse effects in these areas will be apparent for many generations. Fukushima isn’t likely to be much different, for now anyway…
Here’s another PDF about Chernobyl with material intimately related to Fukushima. This book was originally published in 2009 by the New York Academy of Sciences at $150.00 a pop and here it is for free:
