Letter to Editor-THIS IS AMERICA

As a Candidate for Citrus County Commission, District 1, Countywide for 2012, I was recently invited to a political forum along with my opposition, although I had been admonished by a representative of the sponsors that if I refused for my speech to be censored, I would be asked to leave. Along with this warning a quote was made mention of by President Ronald Reagan – that there should be no criticism of Republicans.
I am a Republican, but I am sure that President Reagan WOULD Criticize anyone – even one entitled "Republican" if that individual(s) does not "Preserve, Protect and Defend" the U.S Constitution – that includes "Freedom of Speech or of the Press"!
I must make a stand against this or any Censorship, as a Candidate for Citrus County Commission, and as President of the Ronald Reagan Republican  Assembly for the West Central Florida Region: I and my organization DO Stand for Freedom of Speech or of the Press given by our Creator and established in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution!
President Reagan REFUSED to Accept Censorship – control of what He said, as at a similar public forum at Nashua, New Hampshire, on 2/23/80, after a moderator had ordered his microphone turned off as Reagan was about to speak – he said "I am paying for this microphone" he insisted on speaking as he wished. Furthermore, if Reagan had submitted to the attempted censorship of his speech in Berlin, Germany, 6/12/87 -  he would never have said Mr. Gorbachev: "Tear Down This Wall !" If he had allowed his freedom to speak – censored: "This Wall" also known as "the Iron Curtain" Might Still Remain Intact and Freedom Vanquished!
The invitation to speak as a Candidate is appreciated, although whether or not I do attend, I shall not submit to surrendering my First Amendment Right of Free Speech!
REASON – THIS IS AMERICA!

I am paying for this microphone!

Nashua, New Hampshire, on 2/23/80, after a moderator had ordered his microphone turned off as Reagan was about to speak – he said "I am paying for this microphone" he insisted on speaking as he wished. Furthermore, if Reagan had submitted to the attempted censorship of his speech in Berlin, Germany, 6/12/87 -  he would never have said Mr. Gorbachev: "Tear Down This Wall !" Dear Editor-Renee Christopher-McPheeters

Sunday’s "Out the Window"

The recent "Out the Window" article by the publisher : "The future looks like Mud"
The title, intended to b humorous, did speak volumes of the situation in Citrus County.

That the future looked like mud – reminded me of "Mud Island" –
at Memphis, Tennessee (an amusement Park). I lived in Tennessee for about ten years, there were a lot of good people there.
I told one of the Memphis leaders, that they should rename an amusement park in downtown Memphis, actually an island -"The King’s Island" instead of "Mud Island".

"The King’s Island", for Martin Luther King who was killed at Memphis and Elvis Presley, who was from Memphis – "The King of Rock & Roll".
A city or county should as the saying goes "Accentuate the Positive and Eliminate the negative!".

This is what needs to happen here in Citrus County, we do not need  any more bad publicity.

Bad Publicity is not good for business or anything else!
.

As a Candidate and future Commissioner, I shall do my best to avoid anything that would make Citrus County look bad to outsiders in general:

lengthy governmental meeting battles/lawsuits, and "Fiascos" such as the "Ottawa Fiasco", the "Inter local Centralized Sewer Agreement", the "Dean Barn", "The Freezer", "King’s Bay/Manatee Protection" The Citrus Memorial Hospital Lawsuit, the Invalid Crystal River Annexation…the list goes on and on.

If you look anyplace in the country, the counties/cities that are not fighting amidst themselves are the ones that are the most successful and prosperous –

the ones that businesses and families are attracted to!

I just have to say that I am very tired of all of the bickering in Citrus County and the culprit, let’s face it  – is Bad Government!

If there can be a turnaround with the 2012 Election, for Positive Candidates: Citrus County shall not have a "muddy" reputation and the future shall be smooth sailing!!!
