Synopsis/Overview: Afternoon sea breeze thunderstorms may be strong to severe
today. A storm system will develop in the Gulf and move over the region Friday
through Friday Night with strong to severe thunderstorms possible Friday into early
Saturday morning.
Impact 1: Strong to Severe Thunderstorms.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to form late this afternoon
in Southwest Florida and develop northward into the Tampa Bay Area from
around 4 PM through 8 PM. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary
threats with the strongest storms.
Numerous thunderstorms will develop by Friday Morning over the Nature
Coast then Friday afternoon through Friday night over the rest of West Central
and Southwest Florida. Large hail, damaging winds or isolated tornadoes are
the primary threats with the strongest storms.
Impact 2: Heavy Rainfall with Flooding Possible.
Rainfall totals of up to 3 to 5 inches will be possible from Tampa Bay
northward. Excessive rainfall could lead to risk of flooding especially north of
